Our latest local builds run faster than those built from the files contained in this directory; the speedup is between three times as fast (for Power PC Mac) to ~10% faster (for 32-bit Linux), but in general is around 30%.
If you decide to ignore these warnings, all you need from this directory is the file mosflm706.tgz.
If you want to build a copy that doesn't have any of the old xdl_view GUI code, and will build without the X11 libraries, download the file mosflm706_noX11.tgz instead. Because of problems with the compiler for the Windows executable, the "in-program" help facility does not work in this build.
This build has not been tested with Tru64 on a DEC/Compaq/HP Alpha, or on an SGI, but as previous versions did build, and this is not substantially different, it should work.
Note that the Alpha Linux build has not been tested for many years, but as it worked okay for version 6.2.0, it may work for this version too.
I have included setup files for using the Intel Fortran/C compiler (ifort/icc) for both PCs and Mac Intel boxes, and IBM xlf/xlc compiler for Mac OSX. I have bought the Intel Fortran compiler, and the Intel Macintosh pre-built executable has been built with that. I haven't bought the IBM compilers, so I am not allowed to distribute the executables built with them, and since trial versions are no longer available, the Mosflm build with those compilers is purely of academic interest. The Intel compiler for Macs gives very stable executables that run faster than the executables built with gfortran, and I find that with the xlf compiler Mosflm runs roughly twice as fast on PPC Macs.
If you decide to build Mosflm with non-gnu compilers, you must also build the CCP4 libraries with those compilers. Instructions are available with the CCP4 distributions, but using non-standard compilers with the CCP4 build is fraught with difficulty; as noted above, if you don't have the experience and time to spare, you gain little by trying this.
If you log out after you have built and installed the CCP4 libraries, make sure that you "source" the correct ccp4.setup file before building Mosflm.
To use the PC Intel compiler flags:
source intel
make
To use the Mac Intel compiler flags:
source macintel
make
To use the IBM compiler flags:
source xlf
make
The REFIX indexing file (refix_all.for) used in versions before 6.2.6 may not work with this build (I have made some changes...); if you need it, please e-mail me for a copy.
