Haemonchus contortus
Haemonchus contortus is a parasitic nematode, and it's genome is of interest both in its own right, and for comparison against its better-known relative, Caenorhabditis elegans. We mapped the genome of this organism (estimated at around 60Mb) as part of a wider Wellcome-funded programme which also includes Dr. John Gilleard of the University of Glasgow Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. |
