Cryptosporidium parvum Type II The Minnesota Cryptosporidium parvum Genome Project was initiated by Dr. Mitchell Abrahamsen in the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Science, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Minnesota, funded by a grant from National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). The aim of the project was to determine the entire genome sequence of Cryptosporidium by shotgun cloning and sequencing. The SMG group Cryptosporidium HAPPY map of the genome was used as a framework to both align and orient the sequence contigs. The results of the collaboration were published in Science, Vol 304, 441-445, 2004. |
