Pathogen detection
The PCR techniques which we have developed for use in HAPPY mapping are also well suited to detecting small numbers of pathogens in clinical and environmental samples.
Corinne Amar and colleagues in Jim McLauchlin’s research group at the Health Protection Agency have adapted these methods for the rapid and sensitive detection and characterisation of very small numbers of parasites (Cryptosporidium spp. and Giardia duodenalis) in clinical samples.
